Dr. Jennifer Hoffelmeyer, originally from Winterset, Iowa, grew up in rural Madison county and graduated from Winterset High School. Upon graduation, she attended Iowa State University, graduating in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in animal science before earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Jennifer practiced mixed animal medicine in Chariton, Iowa, before focusing on her small animal medicine skills while practicing at Banfield, The Pet Hospital in Clive, Iowa, for three years. In April 2008, she began practicing in Adel, Iowa and became the owner of The Animal Hospital of Adel in January 2013. She is a professional member of the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, and the Society for Theriogenology.

Dr. Jennifer has three children: Ethan, Lauren, and Brayden. She stays busy running the kids to various sports practices and attending their games. She also enjoys watching Iowa State University sporting events and cheering on the Kansas City Royals.

The family shares their home with three dogs and four cats—Rosie (Golden Retriever), Naz (Labrador Retriever) and Chuck (Rat Terrier), and Mittens, Tucker, Gordie, and Tippy (all were brought to the clinic as young kittens in need of medical care and ended up staying).

Caitlin was born in Anchorage, Alaska, but spent most of her childhood in Glendale, Arizona. She also attended Apollo College and earned her Veterinary Assistant Certification while on the Dean’s List. Following graduation, Caitlin moved to California, where she worked for more than two years as a Veterinary Assistant. In 2013, Caitlin joined the team at The Animal Hospital of Adel.

Caitlin’s husband, Charlie, works for Skold Door Company and repairs motorcycles in his spare time. Caitlin and Charlie have two children, Charlie and Jaxon. Their family also includes MJ, an American Bulldog mix, Chevy, a Chocolate Labrador, and Cali, a three-legged cat. Caitlin’s parents live in Arizona. Her dad, retired from the USAF, works for Honeywell and her mom is a retired middle school Vice Principal. Caitlin’s brother, Jon, is in the NFL and plays for the Houston Texans.

When Caitlin isn’t busy caring for animals, she enjoys all outdoor activities, spending time with family, watching football (Go Texans!), and yoga.

Leslie was born in De Soto, IA, back when TVs were black and white, and there were party lines on the telephone. She graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in veterinary technology before moving to Dallas, TX, for work. While in Texas, she obtained her state and national veterinary technician certifications and met her husband, Larry. After the birth of their first child, the wilds of Texas were forgotten, and they moved back to Iowa. After returning, they welcomed their second child into the world. Leslie worked for various veterinary clinics in the Des Moines area before joining the staff of The Animal Hospital of Adel in 2017.

Leslie enjoys traveling with her family, and she aspires to visit every national park at least once. She has had many animal companions over the years and currently has two very spoiled Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and two geriatric cats. In her spare time, she also enjoys caring for her flowers and working in the garden.

Misty was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. She is a graduate of East High School and lived in the Marshalltown area for 18 years, where she raised her three children, Zachary, Nathan, and Emily. Misty joined the staff of The Animal Hospital of Adel in 2020.

Misty currently lives in Perry with her two very spoiled American bulldogs, Kali and Kahara. Outside of work, Misty enjoys spending time with her three grandchildren, making crafts, drawing, painting, and collecting owls.
