Dr. Jennifer Hoffelmeyer
Dr. Jennifer Hoffelmeyer, originally from Winterset, Iowa, grew up in rural Madison County and graduated from Winterset High School. Upon graduation, she attended Iowa State University, graduating in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in animal science before earning her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Jennifer practiced mixed animal medicine in Chariton, Iowa, before focusing her skills on small animal medicine while practicing at Banfield, The Pet Hospital in Clive, Iowa for three years. In April 2008, she began practicing in Adel, Iowa and became owner of The Animal Hospital of Adel in January 2013.
For as long as she can remember, Dr. Jennifer wanted to be a veterinarian. She was always interested in math and science and grew up caring for multiple cats and dogs. Additionally, Dr. Jennifer spent a great deal of time shadowing local veterinarians and was a Madison County 4-Her where she exhibited 4-H calves at the county and state fairs. Today, Dr. Jennifer enjoys caring for small animals and has a special interest in canine reproduction. She is a professional member of the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, and the Society for Theriogenology.
Dr. Jennifer is married to Peter, who is a programmer analyst at EMC Insurance Companies in Des Moines. In August 2008, they welcomed their first child, Ethan, who currently attends preschool, loves playing with trucks and tractors, working on mazes, and playing with his little sister, Lauren, born in May 2012. Lauren has a great temperament and adores her big brother!
The Hoffelmeyer family is made complete with their many companion animals, including: Darby, a 10 year old yellow Labrador retriever who is a very smart, constant companion; Cassie, a seven year old Labrador mix who was adopted from the Chariton animal shelter and loves to track the kids’ every move; Simon, a lovable and easygoing 13 year old gray domestic shorthair; and Jake, a 10 year old gray domestic shorthair who does everything on his own terms.
When she’s not hard at work at the clinic, Dr. Jennifer enjoys relaxing at home while catching up on her favorite TV shows, seeing movies with her husband, visiting her sister and her family in Ankeny, playing four point pitch with friends, and reading books and playing games with Ethan and Lauren. As a family, they love attending Iowa State University sporting events, but when they can’t make it to the games, they always watch on TV. Go Cyclones!
Caitlin was born in Anchorage, Alaska, but spent most of her childhood in Glendale, Arizona where she also attended Apollo College and earned her Veterinary Assistant Certification while on the Dean’s List. Following graduation, Caitlin moved to California where she worked for more than two years as a Veterinary Assistant and met her fiancé Charlie.
Caitlin has always had a soft spot for animals, but it was on her 18th birthday when she saw a race horse break its leg that her dream was realized and she knew she wanted to make a career out of helping animals.
Caitlin’s Iowa family includes Charlie who works for Skold Door Company and Gixxer, a five year old American Bulldog who has so much personality it shines through her eyes. She also has two dogs keeping her parents company in Arizona – Baylee, who barks at everything and loves to chase birds; and Autumn, who is a lover and licker. Caitlin’s Dad, retired from the USAF, works for Honeywell and her Mom is a Middle School Vice Principal. Caitlin’s brother, Jon is in the NFL and plays for the Houston Texans.
When Caitlin isn’t busy caring for animals, she enjoys outdoor activities, spending time with friends and family, watching football (Go Texans!), learning, growing, and enjoying the little things in life.
Born and raised in Des Moines, IA until her family moved to Winterset, Brittany graduated from high school in 2007 before becoming a veterinary technician. Brittany’s interest in helping animals began in high school when her family’s dog was hit by a car. After helping to transport the dog for emergency care, Brittany realized how much personal fulfillment she felt for her part in saving her family’s dog’s life and chose to pursue a career in which she could fulfill her passion of caring for animals on a daily basis.
Outside of work, Brittany and her husband Josh, married in September 2010, live on a small acreage where they raise cattle and care for their son Ayden (born November 2012), as well as their many pets, including two horses (Blondie and Annie), two dogs (Gus and Carly), and several cats (Ace, Mask, Johnny, June, and Bubba). Josh works for Voss Farms, a large farming operation, and Ayden keeps them on their toes with his adventurous and independent personality. As a family they enjoy four wheeling, horseback riding, and spending time outdoors.
